Pre-Conference Workshops are ONSITE only!

Keystone Conference 2005 will feature a Pre-Conference on October 3, 2005. Pre-Conference provides participants the opportunity to examine issues particularly relevant to IVC practice worldwide with the intention of creating on-going discussion and documentation to further best practices. Participants will work in five distinguishable groups (Novices, K12 Educators, Content Providers, IVC Leaders, and International Dimension) that will be facilitated by IVC specialists. The groups include:

Work Group I. Novices: The How’s, When’s and Where’s of Videoconferencing
If you are new to interactive videoconferencing this strand is for you. Join us to network with other professionals who are just getting started with interactive videoconferencing (IVC). You will discover various types of IVC resources that are available to help launch your videoconferencing initiative.

Work Group II. Educators: IVC in the K-12 Learning Community
This day-long working session will extend the theme of the conference to explore in-depth how teaching and learning communities can connect and collaborate through IVC locally…nationally…and internationally to improve student learning.

Work Group III. Content Providers: Integral Partners in K-12 Learning
This will be the time for content providers to work on those issues and initiatives that they have identified as their highest priority. Budgets are getting tighter. Schools are being asked to do more with less. The special focus for this session will be how to advocate for and ensure the integration of informal education in the K-12 classroom.

Work Group IV. IVC Leaders: Broadband Access, Research, and Innovations
This day-long working session will extend the theme of the conference to explore in-depth how technology infrastructure, applications and hardware, and IVC based programs are able to support learning environments P-20. All participants in this session will receive a copy of the Center on Education Policy: NCLB Policy Briefs 2005 and Virtual Schools.

Work Group V. International Dimension
Do you need to be convinced that the International Dimension should be included in your curriculum? Is talking to the World an aspiration you might achieve, or are you inspired to make it happen? If so, join us for this day-long session where participants can connect to international destinations and discuss how to draw the world closer in the 21st century.

Join us for a day of professional growth, resource sharing, networking, and interaction with other IVC groups who work together to ensure student learning. Lunch, snacks, and a copy of the book Videoconferencing for K-12 Classrooms (Policy Briefs for IVC Leadership Work Group) are included in the $100 registration cost.
